Chef Jackie Carnesi — the South Texas-rooted talent behind Roberta's, the late Nura, and the Tex-Mex overhaul of Kellogg's Diner — turns sharply toward the water at Bar Susanne, a riverfront raw bar that opened in May 2026 at 6 River Street, beneath the Williamsburg Bridge. The menu reads French-y, Italian-y and coastal, built on seafood sourced from Long Island's North Fork and local waterways: shrimp cocktail with roasted shrimp-shell aioli, scallop crudo, grilled squid, fluke Milanese, plus an eight-ounce dry-aged burger for the land-inclined. Designed by James Beard-nominated Matthew Maddy (Lilia, Public Records, Oxomoco), the 75-seat room runs to amber light, marble and a wall of ice. Milos Zica's bar leans into martinis and New York State wines. Come for oysters at sunset over the East River.
