Francis Mallmann — the Argentine chef who trained in Paris under Alain Chapel and Paul Bocuse before returning to live-fire cooking in Patagonia, won a James Beard Award for the cookbook Seven Fires, and reached a wide audience through Netflix's Chef's Table — brought La Boca to Faena New York, his Buenos Aires-rooted tribute on the ground floor at 500 West 18th Street, steps from the High Line in West Chelsea. The room is the headline: lacquered wood paneling, red velvet banquettes, gold chandeliers, and nightly live music that runs to tango and jazz. The menu reads Argentine — empanadas, steak, the parrillada mixed grill — under a smart, elegant dress code. Come for the spectacle of dinner and a show in one of the city's most theatrical new dining rooms.
