Prima occupies 10 City Square in Charlestown, the address that for decades held Todd English's Olives — the rustic-Mediterranean restaurant he opened in 1989 that put City Square on the map before closing in 2013. The revival comes from the group behind Lincoln Tavern and Capo, with Nicholas Dixon as culinary director and Jacob Mendros, a L'Espalier veteran, as executive chef. The room is restored and theatrical: an open kitchen, hand-carved wood, mosaic floors, and the moodier, fireplace-lit Rose Room out back. The format is Italian-steakhouse — a made-to-order mozzarella bar, house-rolled pasta, dry-aged cuts, tableside cioppino. The kitchen goes fully gluten-free on Mondays. Come for a storied address reopened with energy, overlooking City Square Park.
