Lauren Biederman — the Vermont-raised owner of Biederman's, the smoked-fish and caviar appetizing shop in the Italian Market — opened Tesiny in 2025 inside a century-old corner brick building on Dickinson Street that spent much of its life as an auto-repair garage. She designed the room herself: a U-shaped marble bar and open kitchen, black velvet seating, brass accents, and teardrop sconces, with a soundtrack that drifts from Sinatra to Sade as the night turns livelier. Executive chef Michael Valent, a veteran of Zahav and Good King Tavern, runs a raw-bar-and-charcoal-grill menu of mid-Atlantic oysters, tuna crudo, broiled oysters in Calabrian chili butter, chicken lollipops, and Ibérico pork. The name honors the Bridgeport, Connecticut street where Biederman's father grew up. For Dickinson Narrows oysters and fortified-wine cocktails in a sultry, self-designed room.
