When a 2024 fire shuttered 717 South, a decades-long fixture on the SoHo strip, restaurateur Michael Stewart chose to rebuild on the same footprint rather than relocate, opening The Landon in March 2026 and naming it for his son. The kitchen belongs to Robert Hesse, the chef who built a following across two seasons of Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen, working an elevated American menu weighted toward seafood and steak: caviar service, charbroiled oysters, crab cakes, and a layered scallop dish built on corn pudding, pork belly, and quail egg. The reimagined room runs an open kitchen and a serious wine and cocktail program, sitting directly across South Howard from AVA, the Italian restaurant Stewart and his wife already run. For a South Tampa comeback with a familiar address and a sharper edge.
