On the second floor of the landmark Metropolitan Life tower, inside the New York EDITION hotel, The Clocktower is Stephen Starr's handsome ode to the British dining room — opened in 2015 as chef Jason Atherton's American debut. David Rockwell carved the landmarked floor into a warren of moody rooms: ebony oak, velvet, walls of framed American icons, and a billiards room for a pre-dinner drink. The kitchen works in contemporary British registers — tavern classics pulled upscale, a serious wine list — overlooking Madison Square Park. It carried a Michelin star from 2018 to 2022; today it trades on setting, polish, and one of the more romantic rooms in the Flatiron.
