Lux Palate is built on a simple idea: a guide should earn your trust. That extends to your data. This explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we can to run the service well.

What we collect

Your email address — when you create an account (sign-in is by emailed link) or when you join our list.

Basic, non-identifying usage information that helps us understand how the site is used and keep it working.

Your approximate location — only the “Near You” feature uses it, and only if you grant your browser’s location permission. You can decline, and the rest of the site works fine.

How we use it

To run your account and the features you use, to operate and improve the service, and — only if you’ve opted in — to send you the occasional Lux Palate dispatch.

We do not sell your data.

Marketing is optional

Marketing email is opt-in and unchecked by default. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any message, or by writing to vip@lux-palate.com. Your account does not depend on it.

Who we share data with

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to run the service: Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (transactional email such as your sign-in link), Mailchimp (marketing email, only if you’ve opted in), Google Places (restaurant data), Mapbox (maps), and Vercel (hosting).

Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and we don’t share your data beyond that except where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service and meet our legal obligations. Ask us to delete it and we will, except where we’re required to retain certain records (such as proof of marketing consent).

Your rights

You can request access to the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email vip@lux-palate.com and we’ll take care of it.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies to keep you signed in, and your browser’s local storage for small preferences — for example, remembering that you’ve already dismissed a prompt so we don’t show it again. We don’t use these to track you across other sites.

Children

Lux Palate is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where that is the applicable age). We don’t knowingly collect data from them.

Changes

If we update this policy, we’ll change the “last updated” date above. Material changes will be made clear.
